Fabric Loaf Wrap

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and you may be looking for a new and unique way to express your love/gratitude for that special someone in your life.  This little project was something I came up with years ago to welcome new neighbours moving in but it also makes a super-cute gift for any occasion.

 This quick and easy project requires just a few simple tools:

Materials:
* A loaf of your favourite homemade bread wrapped in plastic wrap.
* 20 x 22 inch (50 x 55 cm) piece of fabric (If using mini loaf pans, cut fabric to 30 x 35 cm).
* Scissors or pinking shears. I prefer to use pinking shears as they cut the fabric along the bias and thus reduce the likelihood of fraying (obviously, no cutting is needed if using a tea towel for the wrapping).

Step 1: Place loaf, top side up, diagonally on top of wrong side (back) of fabric.  Fold one corner over long side of loaf and tuck underneath.

Step 2: Fold opposite corner halfway in to meet loaf.

Step 3: Fold onto top of loaf, creating a smooth edge.

Step 4: Gathering fabric at one end of loaf, fold up to middle.  Without letting go of that end, repeat with the other side.  Tie in a knot.  Fluff out tails of knot and trim any loose threads.
Voila! There you have it. Using fabric, a tea towel, or other linen to wrap a food gift means you not only have an eye-catching dressing, but also a handy re-usable item to offer.  It is sure to warm the hearts (and tummies) of someone you love.
